Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ NM: BORL) announced its JBuilder® Integrated Development Environment (IDE) took top honors in a recent “Developers’ Choice” study by Evans Data Corporation. The study, in which over 700 developers ranked the features and capabilities of nine top IDEs in 13 distinct categories, placed JBuilder at the top of the compiler category, the profiler category, and the debugger category and ranked well above its competitors for performance of resulting applications.
“Borland's tools have long been loved by developers for their quality and high performance and that hasn't changed,” stated John Andrews, Evans Data president, in a recent press release titled “New Evans Data IDE Study Shows Borland Toolset Still a Powerhouse.”

Later this year, Borland plans to announce an Eclipse-based Java IDE, codenamed “Project Peloton.” Based on the award-winning JBuilder IDE and leveraging Eclipse projects such as WTP, Peloton will provide a rich user experience with two-way EJB and Web Services designers, seamless migration tools, and innovative peer-to-peer developer collaboration features similar to those available in JBuilder 2006.
