Arnhem/Oberursel, 17th November 2005 - After releasing its preliminary results on the 26th October 2005, Utimaco today presented the final results for the first quarter (July to September) of the current business year 2005/2006 (July 2005 to June 2006). In the first quarter Utimaco, which specializes in IT security solutions, achieved strong powerful growth both in revenues and in its result, with license sales for its SafeGuard product family showing particularly strong growth.
The group revenues of € 9.4 million showed a considerable increase of 28.7% over the previous quarter (€ 7.3 million). Revenues outside Germany grew by 40.1%, to € 3.2 million (previous year € 2.3 million), growing faster than total revenues. Utimaco also made a considerable improvement of 107% to its pre-tax result (EBIT), which equaled € 2 million (previous year € 0.9 million), and tripled its result per share to € 0.12 (previous year € 0.04).
After three months an operating cashflow of € 1.6 million (previous year € 1.5 million) was achieved. The company increased its liquid assets in the reporting period by € 0.7 million to considerable financial resources of € 23.0 million (on 30th September 2005).
The Personal Device Security product unit, which specializes in software solutions for protecting data on mobile personal devices and in networks, increased its revenue by 48.5% to € 7.1 million (previous year € 4.8 million). Here, revenue from SafeGuard licenses grew faster than total divisional revenues, by 75.8%.
The Transaction Security project unit, which specializes in securing electronic business processes, achieved revenues of € 2.3 million (including internal revenues of € 114,000), just under the record result for the previous quarter of € 2.5 million (including internal revenues of € 81,000). The major order for the CryptoServer security module, worth € 2.6 million, which was won in the reporting period, has already contributed € 0.5 million to revenues in the first quarter and the entire order will be fulfilled within the next 9 to 12 months, affecting net income.

Our position as leader in this area, with our product strategy, has been confirmed in the latest study on the market for mobile data protection produced by the market research company Gartner Research.
