DIGINEXT TO LAUNCH EXCITING NEW PRODUCT ‘MULTINET’

During CeBIT 2005 in Hannover

Amstelveen, The Netherlands - Diginext, a European based company that can boast a leading position in the ranks of international companies providing not only integrated solutions for advanced Internet technology but also facilitating the conveniences of the company’s latest innovations in such a way that Internet users all over the world will be able to start experiencing the benefits of these innovations free of charge, is currently preparing to launch a new and exciting product by the name of “MultiNet”. The launching of this product, that can be considered way ahead of its time, will take place during CeBIT 2005, the IT trade fair in Hannover, Germany, 10-16 of March, considered the worlds leading event when it comes to information technology, telecommunications, software and services.

Because Diginext professionals firmly believed that specifically mobile Internet products and business models should keep up with the ever growing quantity of connection methods, devices and services, they sought to develop a new product that would offer a completely new concept of connectivity and configuration. This goal was accomplished through “MultiNet”, the innovative answer to many a frustrated end-users prayer for deliverance when on the move and unable to gain rapid and reliable access to the Internet as a result of having to choose from an almost innumerable total of options and devices and the corresponding need of applying for instance several different passwords.

What “MultiNet” will offer especially to corporate mobile end-users, is a fast and simple way of connecting to the Internet. End-users will only have to select their preference for a certain connection and “MultiNet” will do the rest. In other words, the end- user just has to specify that LAN is preferred before WLAN, before 3G, before GPRS, after which “MultiNet” will automatically detect the connections, select the user’s devices, networks and operator settings, instantly configuring all these to the desired set up. Users can even choose to “Auto Connect”, which means that by just starting up their laptops, they will be instantly connected. Saving time and energy and thus money.

Diginext is convinced that “MultiNet” supports both the specific demands of the corporate (enterprise) market, as well as those felt by Mobile Operators and Hardware Manufacturers. All these demands were taken into account when designing “MultiNet”, which is why Larger Mobile Operators can create their own GUI as “MultiNet’s” engine was completely decoupled from the GUI and Smaller Operators with a more limited budget will benefit from the Base Module of “MultiNet” that manages the connectivity. By using “MultiNet’s Modulator” end-users are able to purchase those add-on modules they believe will serve their immediate needs, while postponing the purchase of other, less urgently needed add-ons for a later date.  The add-ons can be acquired directly from Diginext, which is where the company will also make its revenue.

Revenues that Diginext however is happy to share with its clients by means of a commission possibility. The operator becomes a channel instead of a party having to pay a substantial amount of money for a connectivity client. As to the Hardware Manufacturers policy of only using a product that can be considered ‘operator independent’,  all the operator settings in “MultiNet” were included so the product will automatically detect the mobile network the end-user subscribes to, while also automatically detecting the access devices, enabling the hardware manufacturers to make their systems totally independent. Like the operators, the Hardware Manufacturers become channels, not customers.

“MultiNet” is also available as an SDK and complete separation of GUI and back-end, as well as complete API and documentation. Furthermore the product can be expanded through what Diginext describes as “The Modulator”, offering the ability to add modules, created by 3rd parties and  the ability to buy modules directly in “MultiNet”. The product can also be administered remotely through Diginext’s so-called “Provisioner” that offers ‘Remote Policy Management’, ‘Remote Patch management’, ‘Reporting about usage and other profiles’ and ‘License Management and online activation’. The keywords for “MultiNet” are in fact ‘stability’, ‘quality assurance’, ‘flexibility’, ‘speed’, ‘scalability’ and ‘low system resources’. These keywords were part of the design process so that this new engine is nothing less than another major step forward in the evolution of Diginext’s Connection Manager.

“MultiNet” supports hardware for mobile phones, data cards and chipsets, manufactured by for example Motorola, Nokia Panasonic, Sagem, Samsung, Sharp, Siemens, Sony Ericsson,  Novatel, Option, Sierra Wireless, Cisco, Lucent (Agere), Intel, Proxim, D-Link, Linksys, 3Com and Netgear.

The standard version of MultiNet offers the following functionality:

  • WWAN support, including; (Hs)CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS (3G) and non-secure WLAN.
    • This will include settings for all Mobile Operators
  • Preference based connectivity, as shown in Fig 1.
  • “Manual mode” connecting, using the slider bar as shown in fig 1.
  • Complete device support, without any limitation.
  • The MultiNet “Modulator” which allow the user to purchase add-on modules
  • Multifunction display, showing; battery level, network info, data counter and status display.
  • Multilingual support, including multi byte languages like Japanese and Chinese.
  • Customizable buttons, like E-mail, VPN and browser
  • Diagnostic tools (also known as EZ Control).
