SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 25, 2005 - McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE), the pioneer and worldwide leader of intrusion prevention solutions, today announced key findings from the Secure Content Management (SCM) survey of global enterprises, conducted by TNS IT & Telecoms Research Group, spanning twelve countries from four continents. Survey findings show that the vast majority of enterprise organizations believe that they have an obligation to protect and prevent employees from being exposed to offensive content via email.
However, results also depict that under one third of all enterprise businesses use a single vendor solution for messaging and network security but enterprise organizations that did employ integrated SCM solutions, saved substantial staff time dealing with unwanted spam, viruses, phishing attacks and inappropriate content. The survey concluded that such companies saved up to 1000 working days, or four full-time employees per year, simply by employing an integrated SCM solution.
The McAfee Secure Content Management survey reveals that the impact of unwanted content on employee and network productivity is the biggest issue facing organization's messaging traffic today. The type of SCM software that organizations currently have in place to address these issues are as follows:
- 94% of the organizations questioned have anti-virus software in place
- 71% of the organizations questioned have anti-spam software in place
- 55% of the organizations questioned have Internet Access Control technology in place
- 49% of the organizations questioned have content filtering in place
Over two thirds of the respondents surveyed believe that there is a substantial benefit to purchasing an integrated SCM solution from a single source vendor. Over half of the respondents believe that adopting an integrated solution for SCM would lead to a lower cost for managing organization-wide messaging security. And 'increasing messaging security', 'minimizing disruption to employee productivity' and 'protecting the company from liability' are the three key factors driving current SCM solution purchasing.
"The Secure Content Management Survey clearly illustrates the importance of implementing an integrated, single source SCM solution. The metrics obtained by this global analysis bring to light the significant time and cost savings achieved by those enterprises that made integration a priority," said Steve Crutchfield, director of product marketing for McAfee, Inc. "The McAfee Secure Content Management solutions deliver integrated, flexible technology for organizations, helping them to optimize resources, increase productivity and prevent industry and company policy compromises."
