Oberursel, Germany – December 21st, 2004 – Utimaco announced today that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for smartphones based on Symbian OS™. As a Platinum Partner, Utimaco is extending its data protection solutions to the Symbian OS ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global industry standard operating system for smartphones, to the world’s leading handset manufacturers. Symbian OS licensees account for over 85% of worldwide mobile phone sales and in 2003, more than 6.67 million phones based on Symbian OS were shipped worldwide.
