Oberursel, 24th May 2004 - Utimaco Safeware's business development has proceeded according to plan in the third quarter (January to March), building on the sustainable and stable profits situation of the business year 2003/2004. Its highly-profitable license sales grew by 30% in the first nine months. The proportion of total revenues arising from third-party hardware sales therefore fell by 67%. In total, revenues equalled Euros 19.7 million after 9 months (same period in the previous year: Euros 19.1 million).
After nine months, an EBIT margin of 12% was achieved from an operating result of Euros 2.3 million, compared to an EBIT margin of 0% from an operating result of Euros -71,000 in the same period in the previous year. The (diluted) result per share in accordance with IAS after 9 months equalled 11 cent (same period in the previous year: -1 cent).
After nine months, a positive operating cashflow worth Euros 4.1 million has been achieved (same period in the previous year: Euros -0.1 million). On 31st March 2004, Utimaco Safeware's cash and cash equivalents were worth € 17.0 million.
For the business year 2003/2004, the company expects its revenue level to equal that of the previous year, with a clear improvement in the operating result. The EBIT margin is expected to equal around 10% for the entire year.
In the third quarter, the company Investcorp, which has approximately a 19 % holding in Utimaco Safeware AG, exercised 521,000 subscription rights from the convertible option bond, that Utimaco Safeware had issued in 2003. The shares acquired as a result were placed at two investment funds by Investcorp Technology Ventures L.P.
