's Hertogenbosch, 7 May 2004 - Acer Inc. announces the first quarter financial results following approval at the Board of Directors' (BOD) meeting today. Acer Inc.'s consolidated revenue was NT$49.43B (€1.24B) with 63% year-on-year growth; profit after tax (PAT) was NT$1.39B (€34.65M) with 110.3% year-on-year growth; and the earning per share (EPS) was NT$0.71. The operating income accounted for NT$976M (€24.75M) of the first quarter revenue, representing 237.6% year-on-year growth. The first quarter revenue marks the second highest since Acer spun off its manufacturing business unit in December 2000.
Compared to the year 2004 financial forecast, with the targeted revenue of NT$202.1B (€5.03B) and PAT of NT$7.3B (€182.36M), Acer first quarter results have reached 24.5% and 18.9% of those targets respectively. At the same time the revenue and PAT results have exceeded the first quarter targets.
In addition to revenue growth, Acer placed within the top five PC vendors for the Total PC and notebook categories, according to IDC's preliminary results for the first quarter. A core attribute to the success is Acer's New Channel Business Model - a winning formula of supply-chain management - that has already demonstrated profitability and sustainability, and will be the way forward for Acer's future success.
