SAN FRANCISCO (March 11, 2004) – Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTH), a global provider of identity management and messaging software and services, and Calendra®, a leading provider of user management solutions, today announced that they have signed a worldwide agreement for Critical Path to integrate and offer Calendra’s technology as part of Critical Path’s packaged identity provisioning solutions. These new solutions leverage Critical Path’s expertise in creating custom group management and identity provisioning solutions for Fortune 500 companies as well as Calendra’s easy-to-use visual interfaces for workflow, delegated administration and role-based access control (RBAC). The new offerings – which are targeted at enterprises, government agencies and telecommunications operators – enable organizations of any size to more easily provision users in accordance with business approval processes and migrate large numbers of accounts during application rollout in heterogeneous environments. In addition, the new solutions help customers to automate change management and implement user self-service in order to simplify and reduce the cost of helpdesk operations.
Critical Path’s provisioning offerings are based on the company’s modular identity management platform, which provides a common, integrated foundation upon which solutions for a wide range of identity management needs can be deployed incrementally and securely. The Calendra technology provides an elegant user interface for managing workflow that simplifies business process modeling, particularly for change approval. In addition, its modules for white pages, organization charting and directory management complement Critical Path’s proven scalability, extensive connectivity, data integration and synchronization, group administration and password management capabilities. As a result, Critical Path’s packaged offerings now enable organizations of any size to take advantage of the expertise the company has gained in creating and delivering high-volume identity provisioning solutions for some of the largest enterprises in the world.
“Calendra’s unique directory management technology has been deployed at more than 200 large enterprise and telecommunications customers worldwide with 8 million users over the last three years,” said Alain Pechon, chief executive officer at Calendra. “It is a natural fit for Critical Path’s identity management platform.”
“By integrating our platform with Calendra’s workflow-based visual interfaces, we’re able to enhance our abilities to simplify business process management, tie group administration to RBAC, roll out applications in heterogeneous environments, and handle change management with comprehensive auditing and reporting,” said Bernard Harguindeguy, EVP and general manager of the identity management business at Critical Path. “This enables organizations to deploy solutions faster, improve the reliability of their systems and services, and reduce operating costs.”
Critical Path’s identity management platform provides a modular foundation for addressing a broad range of identity integration and provisioning needs. Critical Path’s Meta-Directory includes built-in connectors for a wide variety of business systems – including directories from the industry’s major vendors; databases from Oracle, Sybase, and IBM; enterprise applications such as SAP HR, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Exchange; as well as IBM RACF mainframe security and other operating system platforms. In addition, its support for industry-standard interfaces such as Java, Perl, XML and SOAP provides easy extensibility and frees organizations from having to learn proprietary scripting languages in order to integrate their own applications and data. Critical Path’s Directory and Business Continuity Servers provide scalable, robust, high performance storage and management of user profile data. Together, Critical Path’s software allows identity management solutions to be deployed more rapidly, with significantly lower upfront and ongoing costs.
