SAN FRANCISCO (February 25, 2004) – Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTH), a global provider of digital communications software and services, today announced that Tin.it, the Telecom Italia Media’s Internet Service Provider, has selected Critical Path’s Universal Address Book solution to provide new personal and advanced information management services for its Tin.it and Virgilio (dial-up and broadband) customers.
Tin.it already uses the Critical Path™ Messaging Server and Directory Server to power many of their innovative Internet Services. The scalability and reliability of the Critical Path software enables the carrier to easily handle an email subscriber base that is expanding every day. Since the Critical Path solution was first deployed, the Tin.it email customer base has more than doubled, and Tin.it now has more than 11 million licenses of Critical Path solutions. With the additional deployment of Critical Path’s information management solutions (such as the Universal Address Book), Tin.it is able to offer its subscribers a set of rich communication and collaboration services from a single, integrated platform.
Tin.it is now using Critical Path’s Universal Address Book solution to offer a central repository that makes subscribers’ telephone numbers, email addresses and other contact data available across multiple communications services. The extensibility of Critical Path’s software will enable Tin.it to add further capabilities in the future, such as synchronization of subscribers’ PIM data across their wireless devices, mobile phones, PDAs, and personal computers.
Tin.it has been using Critical Path’s messaging software since 2001 for both premium and free services. They also use Critical Path’s directory software to centrally store and manage user profiles for their subscribers. The steady increase in subscribers has driven the company to expand its services, optimizing performance, minimizing total cost of ownership and delivering high value-added communications services.
“Tin.it’s decision to use additional Critical Path solutions across their multiple service brands illustrates the flexibility and customizability of our software,” said G. Mario Bobba, General Manager EMEA and Latin America for Critical Path. “Furthermore, the modularity of the Critical Path Communications Platform enables carriers such as Tin.it to leverage the scalability and reliability they have gained from our other solutions.”
The Critical Path Communications Platform offers a broad set of integrated components – including email, address books, calendars, dynamic alerts, shared files, centralized profile management, multi-modal access, and end-to-end synchronization – that can be customized and tailored to the needs of multiple market segments from a single platform. As a result, wireless and wireline carriers can cut costs and time-to-market for delivering new, differentiated revenue-generating services to consumers, mobile professionals and small businesses.
