Deze strategie omvat onder andere samenwerkingsverbanden met vooraanstaande leveranciers van VPN-, remote access-, draadloze- en netwerktechnologie.
McAfee-gebruikers kunnen hierdoor controleren of systemen voldoen aan hun beveiligingseisen voordat ze deze aansluiten op het netwerk. Ze kunnen ook onmiddelijk stappen ondernemen mocht dit noodzakelijk zijn, zowel vanaf externe als interne netwerk access points.
De aangekondigde samenwerking met Cisco Systems, waarbij Network Associates het Network Admission Control programma van Cisco gaat ondersteunen, valt onder de McAfee Trusted Connection Strategy. Network Associates heeft een belangrijk onderdeel van het programma, de Cisco* Trust Agent, in licentie genomen. Dit is een software agent die op een end node systeem draait en met het Cisco-netwerk communiceert. McAfee Trusted Connection Strategy Ensures the Security Compliance of Systems Prior to Connection to the Corporate Network
SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Nov. 18, 2003 - Network Associates, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the leading provider of intrusion prevention solutions, today announced the initial phase of its McAfee* Trusted Connection Strategy, a new strategy that focuses on ensuring the security compliance of all systems before they are connected to the corporate network. The McAfee Trusted Connection Strategy is based on McAfee Security technology initiatives and incorporates key partnerships with industry leading VPN, remote access, wireless and networking vendors. McAfee users will now be able to check for security compliance of systems before connecting to the network, and automatically remediate if necessary, from both external and internal network access points.
"With these technologies, IT administrators can ensure that all machines connecting to the corporate network are compliant with the company security policy before they are allowed access-helping to rid the network of 'rogue systems' and ensure that malicious code is blocked from entering the network." said George Samenuk, chairman and chief executive officer of Network Associates®. Through the McAfee Trusted Connection Strategy, McAfee users will enforce a set of pre-determined conditions that will ensure users trying to access the corporate network are compliant with the company security policy before they enter the network, not during or after. Those that aren't in compliance with the corporate security policy standards are immediately remediated, or brought up to the standard level of compliance, providing a trusted connection to the corporate network.
The McAfee Trusted Connection Strategy is based upon Network Associates experience in finding unprotected machines and in its implementation of Quarantine Mode within McAfee Desktop Firewall. Learning from this experience, McAfee has undertaken several collaborative agreements and partnerships to enable compliance checking at the point prior to the network access. As part of the strategy, Network Associates is targeting leaders in Virtual Private Network (VPN), Remote Access Service (RAS), wireless and networking, and has undertaken integration efforts with Check Point, Cisco and Nortel.
In its initial phase, the Trusted Connection Strategy will be primarily focused on the compliance of anti-virus with McAfee® VirusScan® Enterprise, but will be extended to broader security compliance issues, like Microsoft patches and unauthorized applications. In subsequent phases, Network Associates will develop further McAfee Security technology initiatives that will enable broader compliance enforcement and integration with other technologies, like the market leading McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator®, as a centralized means of policy enforcement.
