Amsterdam, 16 juli 2003 - Cisco Systems maakt bekend dat Market Solutions, de IT-afdeling van Euronext.liffe, gebruik maakt van de netwerk- en opslagtechnologie van Cisco en Hitachi Data Systems. Met projectfinanciering door British Telecom (BT) zijn datacentra van Parijs en Londen onderling verbonden om de continuïteit van de bedrijfsvoering te waarborgen.
De datacentra in Londen als Parijs hosten applicaties en servers die real-time transactiedata verwerken. Elke datalocatie fungeert als back-up voor de ander in geval van storing of uitval. Opslag-, data- en optische netwerkproducten van Cisco die Fibre Channel, IP-opslag, TCP/IP en Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) ondersteunen, vormen de basis van de bekabeling die de datacentra op bijna 650 km afstand met elkaar verbindt.
Subsystemen voor opslag en datareplicatiesoftware van Hitachi Data Systems zorgen ervoor dat er identieke kopieën van de data zijn waar beide datacentra ten alle tijden toegang toe hebben.
"Binnen een financiële handelsomgeving is toegang tot realtime data niet zomaar van belang, het is zelfs cruciaal," zegt Mark Hemsley, algemeen directeur van Euronext.liffe Market Solutions. "We benaderden Cisco, Hitachi Data Systems en BT om deze continuïteitsoplossing te leveren, Deze bedrijven hebben de ervaring en producten die aansluiten op onze geavanceerde ICT-omgeving."
Market Solutions datacentra host diensten voor al haar klanten, die allemaal hoge eisen stellen aan beschikbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid van de data. Het Storage Area Network (SAN) is een belangrijk onderdeel van de geavanceerde LIFFE CONNECT* infrastructuur. LIFFE CONNECT* wordt wereldwijd door steeds meer klanten gebruikt en SAN biedt de flexibiliteit om de snel stijgende opslagbehoefte op te vangen.
Het SAN heeft multiprotocol switches, vier op elke locatie, gebouwd met de Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Directors. Deze switches verbinden servers met Hitachi Freedom StorageTM Lightning 9960TM en LightningTM 9980VTM enterprise-class storage systemen die meerdere terabytes aan opslagcapaciteit leveren. De Hitachi TrueCopyTM software die is geïnstalleerd in de opslagsubsystemen in beide datacentra maken het kopiëren van data op afstand mogelijk.
Voor netwerkconnectiviteit buiten de datacenters heeft Euronext.liffe Market Solutions hun Cisco MDS 9509 met Cisco MDS 9000 IP opslag service modules uitgerust welke zijn verbonden met Cisco 7600 series routers over TCP/IP.
Deze routers staan weer in verbinding met een wide area SDH ring die gebouwd is met Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platforms op netwerkpunten in Londen, Parijs en Amsterdam. De SDH ring ondersteunt meerdere STM-16 links, allemaal goed voor 2.5 gigabit per seconde van bandbreedte per link.
Cisco is de eerste leverancier die een industriestandaard van FCIP implementeert. Deze technologie ondergaat op dit moment het goedkeuringsproces van de Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Met IP Storage Service Module en de Cisco MDS 9000 serie is Cisco ook de eerste leverancier die FCIP geïntegreerd heeft in zowel director als fabric-class SAN switches.
