Trend Micro(tm) sees Microsoft's recent announcement regarding Acquisition of Antivirus Company GeCAD Software as complementary to Trend Micro's Enterprise Protection Strategy.
Tokyo, Japan - June 10, 2003 - Trend Micro Inc (TSE: 4704; Nasdaq:
TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services today announced that it sees Microsoft's acquisition of GeCAD Software's technology as a necessary component to contribute to Microsoft's 'Trustworthy Computing' initiative.
Steve Chang, CEO and Founder of Trend Micro says, "Trend Micro's vision is to create a World safe for exchanging digital information, and this move by Microsoft will help to accelerate Trend Micro's goal."
Together with the May 2003 announcement from Microsoft regarding the Virus Information Alliance (VIA), of which Trend Micro was a founding member, this illustrates the commitment from Microsoft towards security.
According to IDC, Trend Micro is the worldwide leader in Gateway and server-based antivirus software and services. Following the outbreaks of Code Red and Nimda in 2001, Trend Micro quickly realised that the traditional approach to antivirus, of providing a pattern file update was no longer sufficient to protect businesses against the mixed threat network viruses, which propagate through several vectors simultaneously. For this reason it created its Enterprise Protection Strategy, including Outbreak Prevention Services, Damage Cleanup services and a Virus Response Service Level Agreement, which enables IT Managers to centrally manage solutions and services to protect their networks throughout the Oubreak Lifecycle.
Trend Micro will continue to focus on providing protection against network viruses and delivering value to Enterprise customers.
