Active ISP, Europees aanbieder van internet-gerelateerde diensten, heeft winst geboekt in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar. Ladot, de Nederlandse tak van Active ISP, was verantwoordelijk voor 22% van de netto verkoop. Noorwegen en Zweden namen respectievelijk 37% en 25% voor hun rekening.
Active ISP biedt onder andere domeinnaam-, e-commerce en database diensten. Het bedrijf ontwikkelt met name gestandaardiseerde oplossingen met een hoge gebruiksvriendelijkheid en schaalbaarheid.

Exceeds break-even -- Q1 2003 Highlights for the Active ISP group
Oslo, May 15 2003 -- Active ISP has written it's first quarter results of 2003 in black ink, although recognised revenue decreased compared to last year's first quarter due to write-downs in the past 12 months. However, lost revenue was largely replaced by new sales, thus increasing the quality of the customer base.
The severe cost reductions that Active ISP executed over the past 12 months enabled the company to generate a positive operational result (EBITDA) of € 0.24 mill. Net profit soared to more than € 2.1 mill for the quarter, which was mostly due to exchange rate variations between the Euro and the Norwegian Krone.
In April, Active ISP executed the resolution of the EGA to reduce the paid up capital and paid back 3.5 NOK per share to its shareholders. Because of this total cash and bank reduced € 13.6 mill as of April 3 2003 to € 9.3 mill, which board and management concludes is sufficient to meet the company's future business requirements.

Financial highlights of the first quarter
a.. Recognised revenues of € 4.9 mill, a decrease of 6% or € 0.3 mill over Q1 2002 of € 5.2 mill
b.. Operating profit of € 0.24 mill, compared to Q1 2002 loss of € 2.4 mill
c.. Net profit of € 2.1 mill compared to net loss of € 3.1 mill in Q1 2002
d.. Cash and Bank was € 22.9 mill as of 31 March 2003 compared to € 29.5 mill at the same time in 2002
The business in the first quarter
a.. During the first quarter, Active ISP generated 37% of its net sales from Norway, 25% from Sweden, 22% from The Netherlands and 16% from the Rest of Europe.
b.. In Sweden Active ISP captured substantial new business because of the liberalisation of .SE domain names. This will result in additional new sales from April onward.
c.. Active ISP introduced a number of new products and services in this quarter to enhance value to our customers and increase revenue, including virus checking, spam filtering and IDN (Internationalized Domain Names).
