Maarssen, May 15, 2003 - Fujitsu Siemens Computers is now adding the new FibreCAT N30 to its extensive storage portfolio in the field of Network Attached Storage (NAS). As an optimized file server, the FibreCAT N30 is a "Windows Powered NAS" appliance, which runs on the reliable Intel-based PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers with Microsoft Windows technology. This new storage solution stands out in particular due to its high reliability, high availability, and simple administration.
"Our new NAS entry-level model, the FibreCAT N30, is designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and integrates smoothly in existing infrastructures", Dr. Helmut Beck, Vice President Storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, pointed out. "We are convinced to serve all SME applications and fields of operation which require a high level of scalability, performance and failsafety with the FibreCAT N30 in an optimal way."
The storage capacity of 292 GB in the basic version can be increased to 1.3 TB with the storage expansion unit FibreCAT SX30, making this file server the ideal design for future data growth and offering years of high investment protection.
"Windows Powered NAS" includes mechanisms for optimizing availability, such as snapshot technology, which allows point-in-time copies of data sets. The fast installation and the entire data management are handled via an integrated web user interface.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Fujitsu Siemens Computers to expand the availability of Windows Powered NAS solutions, delivering a reliable, scalable storage infrastructure for our customers," said Charles Stevens, Corporate Vice President of the Enterprise Storage Division at Microsoft Corp. "Fujitsu Siemens Computers FibreCAT N 30 provides a powerful combination of easy manageability and superior performance at a low total cost of ownership."
