Netherlands Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen NV) has entrusted the technical maintenance and management of its ticket-vending infrastructure to a dedicated partnership between ICT service provider Getronics and Vialis Verkeer & Mobiliteit BV, a Royal Volker Wessels Stevin NV (KVWS) subsidiary. The agreement will be valid for a period of three years. Within the framework of this agreement, Getronics and Vialis will undertake the maintenance and management of all ticket-vending machines, ticket systems, service desks as well as platform service and alarm boxes.
Getronics and Vialis have both been extensively involved in the maintenance of ticket-vending machines distributed across more than 380 train stations throughout the Netherlands. Netherlands Railways opted for a combination of companies with a view to obtaining services with enhanced reliability while taking full advantage of the proven track record and flexibility of both companies in the field of maintenance and management of this type of system. Getronics and Vialis will also be involved in upgrading the above-mentioned infrastructure according to plans developed by Netherlands Railways.
