March 25, 2003 - Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that it has licensed technology from Passlogix®, an enterprise software company based in New York, for its new Citrix® MetaFrame® Password Manager software, introduced last week as part of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite. This new product, which will be available in the second quarter of 2003, will offer customers an efficient single sign-on (SSO) solution for accessing password-protected applications running within the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite environment.
Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager will provide password security and SSO access to Windows®, Web, proprietary and host-based applications. Users will authenticate once with a single password, and MetaFrame Password Manager will do the rest, automatically logging into password-protected applications and information systems, enforcing password policies, monitoring all password-related events, and even automating end-user tasks, including password changes and resets.
"Passlogix is proud to have been selected by Citrix as the technology provider for their upcoming MetaFrame Password Manager product," said Marc Boroditsky, president and CEO of Passlogix. "By integrating our technology, Citrix users will get a simple, reliable SSO solution that enhances their experience. We're pleased that the large install base of Citrix customers will be able to benefit from our SSO technology."
MetaFrame Password Manager will also enhance security by improving password change policies, providing an encrypted file for each user's credentials, and reducing end users' bad habits associated with passwords. IT administrators can automate the "change password" task, typically part of existing applications, by generating new application passwords on the user's behalf that are more difficult to crack and to change them more frequently, if needed .
"With often dozens of different passwords to keep track of, employees forget passwords, write them on sticky notes or catalogue them on their PC, resulting in expensive help desk calls and serious security risks, " said Bob Kruger, senior vice president of product development and CTO for Citrix. "By automating and centralizing the login process, MetaFrame Password Manager will eliminate a substantial portion of this risk, while increasing user productivity and reducing help desk calls."
"Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager extends the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite by providing higher levels of security, easing access to applications and reducing help desk costs," said Zeus Kerravala, vice president of enterprise infrastructure services for The Yankee Group. "By combining MetaFrame Password Manager with the other elements of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, enterprise customers can realize a platform that allows secure, personalized and simple access to applications from any access point in the enterprise or via the Web, and deliver true on-demand access to software as a service."
