Axis Communications is one of the winners in the Best Places to Work
awards in Sweden. Axis won its prize in the category for Diversity. The
awards, which are arranged by Swedish business publication Veckans
Affärer, together with Oxford Research and the Great Place To Work
Institute, is part of an EU-initiative to name the best 100 European
workplaces.
Axis is awarded for its work with, among other things, diversity from a
broad perspective. This is one of Axis' core values. The company also
focuses on the individual and the individual's right to be unique.
Overall, Axis was ranked number 10 among Sweden´s best workplaces.
"Ever since Axis was founded in 1984, we have put a lot of effort into
creating a strong corporate culture based on openness and respect," said
Mikael Karlsson, founder and Chairman of the Board of Axis. "We're very
pleased to see that we are now considered as one of the best workplaces
in Sweden."
Axis actively supports the thesis that diversity brings new ideas and
perspectives, both important factors in creating a successful business.
All employees are encouraged to respect each other, to take initiatives,
to take responsibility, to question, to be innovative and to learn from
mistakes.
This year's Swedish awards for "Best places to work" are the first in a
series of what is to become an annual event. The winning Swedish
companies and organizations will also be competing in the "Best
Workplaces EU 2003" contest, an event backed by the EU to find the 100
best workplaces in Europe. By promoting lifelong learning, gender
equality and diversity, the European Commission hopes to draw public
attention to several particularly progressive workplaces. The overall
objective for the initiative is to raise workplace standards in Europe.
Besides Diversity, prizes are awarded in two other categories, Lifelong
Learning and Gender Equality. The companies are ranked based on what the
employees say about their workplace, and an evaluation of corporate
culture.
