BELGIUM AND THE NETHERLANDS E-GOVERNMENT PROJECTS EXPAND THEIR USE OF AUTONOMY’S TECHNOLOGY

Cambridge, England — 25 November, 2002— Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the Tweede Kamer (House of Lords) in the Netherlands and the Ministerie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap (Ministry of the Flemish Government) in Belgium have expanded their use of Autonomy’s technology to improve the flow and accessibility of government information for government workers, through their portal, as well as to the public via their Website. Government employees and citizens of both countries will now benefit from immediate access to a variety of relevant information including maps, directions and information related to government services, processes and laws.

Both the Tweede Kamer and the Ministerie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap have been using Autonomy’s technology to power their intranets. Because of Autonomy’s quick implementation, scalability and ability to handle large amounts of information, the two agencies have expanded their use of Autonomy’s infrastructure technology to better manage their public Website.

“Because information in government agencies is often siloed in a specific department, it can be challenging and time consuming to locate vital information,” said Richard Gaunt, chief technology officer and co-founder of Autonomy. “By implementing Autonomy’s technology within their e-Government portals, and now extending it to their public Web sites, the Belgian and Dutch governments are providing their citizens with an easy way to stay informed about local services and information without having to manually search the Web.”

Autonomy’s unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of their content. Autonomy grants enterprises the flexibility to use advanced information retrieval or legacy-based approaches. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to process text, voice and video and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, summarizes, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's technology also drives collaboration across the enterprise and enables organizations to effectively leverage expertise. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
