Almere, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 — Matias today announced its Wired PBT Mouse, the first in a new line of premium mice, with automotive-grade PBT housing and aluminum components.For many years, Matias has been well known for its high quality line of wired and wireless keyboards. Now at IFA Berlin, after two years of in-house design and engineering, Matias is launching its new mouse line.
“PBT (Polybutylene terephthalate) is the ideal material to build a mouse from… It’s dry to the touch, making it very comfortable to rest your hand on all day. It won’t turn shiny or sticky over time, like cheap or rubber-coated plastics do — it stays looking and feeling new. It’s also UV resistant, so you never have to worry about it changing color from sun exposure (which is why they use it in cars). The only tricky part is on the manufacturing side, but we’ve taken care of all that, through careful tooling design,” said Edgar Matias, CEO of Matias.
“I can understand why Logitech & Microsoft don’t build mice from PBT. It’s a difficult material to work with, but we couldn’t resist. It just feels too good in the hand. It’s the perfect feel for a mouse,” added Matias.
The scroll wheel and 4th button are CNC’ed aluminum. The switches are gaming-grade Omron components, ensuring a long operating life. Such high-grade components are rare on consumer / office mice.
You can have an otherwise perfectly good mouse (even an expensive one) that’s suddenly landfill, just because the company tried to save a few pennies on a switch,” said Matias.
Available in White or Black, the Matias Wired PBT Mice will be on display at IFA Berlin 2022, in the booth of Matias’ European distributor, IDCP.
